The Élégante 48 is F.P. Journe's ingenious electro-mechanical creation — a quartz watch reimagined by one of horology's greatest independent watchmakers. Housed in a 48mm tortue-shaped case in lightweight titanium, it runs the Calibre 1210, which uses a motion detector to sense when the watch is at rest: after around 30 minutes of inactivity the hands stop to conserve energy (extending battery life to roughly a decade), then instantly leap back to the correct time the moment it is moved. The white dial with black Arabic numerals sits beneath its signature open aperture, matched here to a blue rubber strap. Intelligent, featherlight and unmistakably Journe.
